Open AI, the big tech giant recently announced its most powerful AI reasoning models o3 and o4 mini. This stands as an outstanding innovation in what artificial intelligence can do for reasoning, coding, and visual tasks. o3, to date is the most powerful reasoning model built by OpenAI. It caters to a wide range of domains including math's, science, programming and visuals. Alongside, measured with industry-leading benchmarks like SWE-bench, MMMU and Codeforces, o3 delivers super-fast performance, while reducing 20% errors compared to its previous model.
On the other hand, the o4 mini model is a powerful variant known for speed, reasoning ability and cost-effectiveness. Even though it’s smaller in size, it comes very close to o3 in terms of performance with a 68.1% score on the SWE-bench test.
OpenAI’s new models, o3 and o4-mini, are the very first to “think with images,” which allows users to upload visuals like sketches or PDF diagrams for analysis during their reasoning process. It can even illustrate images with lower quality and perform the necessary actions like zooming and rotating. Additionally, they support Python code execution directly in the browser through ChatGPT’s Canvas feature and can browse the web for real-time information.
Regarding the pricing, it’s charging quite a bit less for developers. Lastly, these models are all set for ChatGPT Plus, Pro and Team users. In the last, company made an announcement regarding o3 pro that would be launched for the ChatGPT pro subscribers.
